| New Ritalin Warnings, After 50 Years! |
|
"WASHINGTON -- Drugs prescribed to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder will include guides to alert patients and parents of the risks of mental and heart problems, including sudden death.", (The Boston Herald) February 21, 2007 Ritalin, Methylphenidate is a central nervous system (CNS) stimulant that was approved for testing in 1956, since then Ritalin has become a household name, even though doctors and parents were not given adequately information about the drug. The American taxpayer is being asked to pay more and more for health care, but who is making sure that doctors are given accurate information on drugs instead of just advertisements? The FDA? Where are the facts? What about the cancer risk? From my research drug companies seem to care more about sales then public safety.
