A warning about autism and false hope!

I am very concerned about the drugging of autistic children. As a once happy person who was forced to take risperdal, I just can imagine the drug helping anyone. I know it has made my life harder! I used to be able to balance my checkbook. My partner wishes he had me back the way I was before the risperdal. I have spent so many days crying and wishing I had never been forced to take the drug. I sometimes think life after risperdal just isn’t worth living, but I feel I need to stop the spread of this drug, please help me. If you care about autistic kids please research this drug and spread your opinion. I feel the use of this drug is cruel and I know that the side effects of this drug can destroy a person’s life even long after its use. I have boycotted all goods made by Johnson & Johnson, and I hope you will do the same! Please read this story and do what you can to help http://www.lewrockwell.com/greenhut/greenhut50.html

Hi Mary...
I have 4 children on the spectrum...and in their case I believe it is more a case of mercury poisoning caused by vaccines and other forms of mercury exposure like silver fillings in my mouth during pregnancy, canned tuna...etc. Mercury poisoning is treatable..and my children are getting better with careful chelation..but who knows if they will ever fully recover. It may be that this information came too late for my children, for they are already late teens and early 20's now that I know what I know. My 2 young children are 4 years and 1 1/2 years and have never been immunized, and they are not autistic...imagine that! There may be some cases of genetic autism but those cases I believe are rare. Most of what we see in society are heavy metal toxicity and drugs like risperdal will not do those children any good.
Thank you for your blog.

It is true, many drugs only make things worse, for some people, but not for all. You are in control of your own body, and if you feel this drug is doing more damage than good, tell your Dr. And if you do not like his/her response, find a different one.
There are many things out there, many natural helps as well as man made. Check into them all. Find others in your area that are dealing with the same things and see what they have found. Do not give up on yourself, God hasn't. No one really knows what causes autism, many idfferent things I believe. What has caused it for one, may not be the same for the next. My granddaughter was tested for mercury, and she was near nothing. But she is autistic and we will keep trying to find help for her and others and we will keep spreading the word to the world. Autistics are people too! Love them and learn about them. They are just as different as anyone else! Love and hope to you, Marla

I also believe that mercury poisoning has a lot to do with my ASD. I'm going to start treatment to have it removed from my body soon. Since the body is wonderful at healing itself after damage, I might even end up 'normal' one day. I'm not holding out too much hope of that though, the damage might be too bad and besides, I'm used to myself the way that I am. I'm doing ok, really. I live away from home, I'm going to uni and I've got my driving test next week (eek!!!). It'd be nice to be free of my little obsessions though (Harry Potter's the current one, I've read all the books, watched all the DVDs and I'm onto fanfics and Youtube vids by now). But whatever happens, happens. I'll just have to wait and see.

I've never heard that drugs were recommended to treat autism. My son is autistic and he is doing just fine without any drugs. I'm very, very skeptical about drug use in general.
