Friend Status Board

Have you noticed this under your Notice Board in the Control Panel?

It has a very slightly higher barrier to entry than the other spam filled methods to attract attention, so I've been trying it out the last few days and been very pleased with the results.

The trick is to read a few to get the drift and compose your message to flow with the lead in statements. When you first post it will say, "Right now Oldbuddy is" . . . Then after a while it will say, "xx minutes ago Oldbuddy was" . . .

So it should be obvious you can't state your status as, "I am trying to blah, blah" or it will read, "Right Now Oldbuddy is I am trying to Blah, blah" and sound goofy!

Then you need to inject a little curiosity into it so they take the desired action you have in mind. You do have one, don't you? I wanted to build a little Buzz about this Blog entry, so I just posted:

"thinking about how this Status Board can be the subject of my next Blog entry, hmmmmmmm check back."

See how it will blend in with both Oldbuddy is and Oldbuddy was?

No, it's not going to guarantee higher readership, but it took me just a few seconds and if even a few friends notice it, that's a good return for the minimal time invested, don't you think? Beside that, it's fun.

It takes a while for the post to show up, then you need to refresh the page to see your status appear. Depending on the time of day, it can last from a few minutes to several hours, but I can almost guarantee longer exposure than the Notice Board. This may change after more people start using it.

Later today (after I post this Blog entry), I'll try another Friend Status to get more people to come and read it. I think it's a cool addition to Yuwie.

What do you think I should post next to get the most people to come and read this? Get Creative!

Don't worry if you read this after it's all over, your ideas will still make interesting reading for those who follow. I expect a few more readers after the New Year will be catching up on Blogs they read.

Happy Holidays to you and yours!
