Seriously, what's your own perception of a Yuwie Friend?
I have noticed some Yuwie members get really upset if they don't get visited by friends and will go so far as to delete or block them, which really makes no sense to me since it only serves to insure they never will connect.
I see making a friend on Yuwie as opening a channel, not burdening yourself with the unsavory obligation of providing each other with artificial page views or ratings. It may be weeks, months or even years before that channel is ever needed or used.
I get messages all the time from people making comments or asking questions that I don't even remember making friends with. Because I don't remember the instant or circumstance we met under, does that mean we're any less friends?
Take for instance the friend who triggered the thought that resulted in this Blog entry. There was a long period of time when I didn't hear from them or they from me, but when the time ripened, the channel was open. I received a clearly defined, thought provoking message that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was so long I had to start a new message to reply in order to avoid the character limit imposed by Yuwie. I think it resulted in a solid connection that far surpassed any, "Hi, just dropping by" message that is so common here.
I know they helped me by stimulating my thoughts and I hope my answer helped them, but the point is the opportunity could have been missed if either of us previously undertook the worthless action of slamming the door before it had a chance to take place. If that would have happened, what possible positive result could have been gained for either of us?
I think one major factor that contributed to this silent friendship flourishing, was the one way communication of adding to this Blog regularly, which is an activity I strongly recommend everyone on Yuwie should undertake. How could I possibly have known they were reading and what was going on in their mind all this time, until the resulting connection was made? I'm just thankful that the door was still open.
Don't you agree?
