| I'm into my fifth month of tuning out not just TV, but radio and newspaper as well. I travelled to a small non-touristy Caribbean island in October leaving cellphone, Blackberry and all but my camera behind. I was fortunate to be taken in by the local Rasta culture and had an incredible experience. No one has computers or TV. People actually sit and talk, and drink and *ahem* smoke.
When I returned home I had no desire to turn on the TV or radio, nor renew my newspaper subscr i ption. I enjoyed silence. My mind began to ponder bigger questions. There were no distractions, nothing irrelevent to my life pulling me away. Today I consume all of my media online. I never see a commercial, nor anything I don't care about. I choose which news stories to watch and the ones that really matter I'm able to pursue indepth. I feel better informed, less stressed, and far more focused. Great group Marco. Thanks for setting it up.

I agree with you, turning of TV is a stress relief, you are informed by your circle of friends, which is a much more natural way of staying aware of your own environment. | | 2/14/2008 9:54:54 AM | Reply | Quote | Spam |
