I read your article about Etsy and the post about your international success.
Would you please tell us about it?

I joined Etsy last August. I was a little worried that my crafts may not be commercially acceptable, as there are some very, very talented crafters on the site. Not knowing what I was doing (LOL), I began listing some items, scarves... not the best items to be listing when it's 90 degrees outside and some very inexpensive jewelry. After about 2 weeks, I made my first sale while I was sleeping! I had been promoting some of my items in the evening and a women in Texas was reading the promotion forums, saw the picture of my item and purchased it.
Long story short, from early August through December, I sold over 35 itmes and 4 of the items have been sold internationally. Just before the end of the year, I put a bracelet on Etsy and it sold within 20 minutes... I went to promote the item in the forums and when I went to my listing it was gone (I thought somehow I made an error while listing it, but there it was sitting in the sold catagory and I received 2 more emails...called convos on Etsy about the possibility of making something similar)
Etsy is very competitive, but having an online presence is important to me. I love being able to promote my itmes in the forums and have made many of my sales through promoting. I've also met many great crafters through the site, picked up some great crafting tips and learned more about many ways to market, promote and increase sales. I'd recommend ETSY to anyone that wants an online shop, it's a great, inexpensive way to have an online presence and it gives you the opportunity to sell your creations during the slower times of the year when there are many craft shows to attend.
Feel free to ask any questions you may have!
Thanks ILEANA!!

How do you check out Etsy? I have no idea on how much to charge for my pieces. I know how much it costs me to make but I need a forum to compare mine to others in the market and see how their merchandise is priced. Would Etsy help me in that area?
