Hip Hop started in the early 70's when a Jamaican called Dj Kool Herc moved from Kingston, Jamaica to the Bronx New york.
He used to recite rhymes over reggae but New yorkers were not into reggae at the time so he started to chant over the instrumental or percussion parts of popular songs at the time http://www.daveyd.com/raptitle.html later came The Sugar Hill Gang in 1978 to Afrika Bambatta and so on. This Club is dedicated to Hip hop from the 70's to the end of the 90's
